Have we done enough to help rebuild Haiti after the catastrophic earthquake? I think not. Too often, disasters are all but momentary headlines, video clips, and soundbites. These are real people who will forever be affected by this occurrence. I pledge to do more.

Interesting. I have been gardening for better part of my life and I never paid much attention to doing it in this fashion. I usually waited till all the foliage had turned brown before I cut it.

I transplanted ten tomato plants that were growing wild outside my r.v. will they live. I love tomatoes. Some had yellow buds, some had actual tomatoes and the smaller ones had nothing. I am not a gardner but grew up in Uvalde, Texas and had horses and some farm animals but not a whole lot of experience in gardening. I have ten more to move. I dug around the roots and brought a lot of original soil, put plenty of water and put sticks to hold up the big ones. They started growing because the seeds went down the sink. After I transplanted them I sprayed some stuff, stimulant for tomatoes that I found in my neighbors garage. What else can I do? Carl Evans, arealcontractor@gmail.com.

Have also used the tobacco from a cigarette scattered over the soil of the plant. Then watered the plant and it worked beautifully. A few $ for a pack of smokes & you can treat 20 plants. Cheap and nothing toxic on the leaves for kids/pets. My plants were gorgeous almost immediately.
